Tonight at 12:13 a.m. (actually today), I'm ready for C. to be here.

Easy as as that.

All I want for Christmas (and Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving...) is for him to be here.

I hate Cingular

>> Monday, October 02, 2006

So, I got my phone bill today. See it up there? That's not a fib. That, my friends, is the truth. For the month, my cell phone bill is $590.59. That's not pesos, either.

As it turns out, each time I tried dialing my husband and got some sort of weird, "You can't connect now..." announcement in Spanish - I was being charged... 64-66 cents per minute. Let's just say, there's a bunch of those. ALL of my phone conversations averaged about 5 minutes long - with the exception of a couple 15 minute ones, and TWO 30 minute ones.

I hate Cingular. I hate ALL American cell phone companies. Why? Because they are unable to offer an acceptable rate. I know it can be done. How do I know? Because just about 2 yrs. ago, both my brother AND my sister got an AWESOME deal through AT & T. (Which is now, unfortunately CINGULAR.)

Still, I managed to rack up the largest cell phone bill I've ever seen.

So, to remedy this there will be some changes in my phone usage:

1.) I will utilize my sister's American cell phone as much as possible.
2.) I will utilize the Vonage phone (post work hours) at work.
3.) I will accept phone calls to my Mexican cell.
4.) I will look into a Vonage phone while at my sister's house, then will transfer it (or a new one) to our new abode (whenever we find a place.)
5.) I will look into internet phones - skype.com, etc.

Verizon has an International Long Distance play for people who call from the U.S., to Mexico, for .09 cents a minute. I think that C. is going to have to get that and call me on my MX cell.

Anywho, this was a major blow today.

Goal #1 for the week: Buy gas for Bullet

>> Sunday, October 01, 2006

Mission accomplished.

I may have purchased the wrong color (verde or roja), but nonetheless - Bullet is full. $320 pesos later. (About $31 later.)

I said, "Lleno por favor." (Fill it up, please.)

Nice. This week, (given I feel better), I shall buy a membership to Costco; hence, Goal #2.

Cold in Cabo

Yup, I think I have my first, full-blown cold in Cabo. (C. is just getting over the same thing in Ohio.) It's weird. It's the strangest sensation to be cold, stuffy and have a sore throat when it's beautiful outside, 90 degrees and sunny.

At home if I had a cold right now, it would be about 50 degrees at night, maybe 60 during the non-sunny day. Now that is good cold weather.

I took a couple of "SinuTabs" (made by Pfizer) - needed more. Went to Mega (grocery store) they had none. (I even asked the lady at the counter - in Spanish.) So, I bought "Tylenol Sinus" that claims that it's "maxima eficacia" (maximum strength) - WHATEVER.

I still can't breathe. AT all.

I will FIND those SinuTabs and I will take them and I will breathe again.

I think I'll have to bring stuff (medicines) from The States back with me because I know what I can and can't take. For example, Sudafed is a big no-no for me. It makes my heart flutter. (Dr. said "no" to it.) However, right now, at 9:49 p.m. on a Sunday night - I'd give just about ANYTHING for some 24-hour Dristan nasal spray.

Ok, off to bed.

Oh wait - want to hear my latest trick? I've been using toilet paper as tissues for my nose - I can just stuff the used tissues in the cylinder until it's full - then throw them all away at once. I think it's ingenious. Others, well - you might think it's gross. It's working for me, though.

When Chloe was sick a month or so ago, I made her a necklace with a roll of toilet paper on it, that way, when her nose ran, her tissues were at her fingertips. She totally wore it. I wonder if they'd look at me funny if I wore that to work tomorrow.

Ok. I'm off to bed.
