He's Official

As of about 4:00 p.m. today, C. can officially live and work in Mexico. His FM3 (about the size of a U.S. passport) was approved.
Wah-who!
Done. (This, my friends, is a huge relief.)
As of about 4:00 p.m. today, C. can officially live and work in Mexico. His FM3 (about the size of a U.S. passport) was approved.
Wah-who!
Done. (This, my friends, is a huge relief.)
C. is still here.
Mom and little sister left this a.m.
I shall write tomorrow after C. leaves. (You know, when I'll have a boatload of "alone time" on my hands again.)
I'm leaving to pick C. up from the airport in 40 minutes. I'm having a difficult time concentrating...
Tomorrow at 12:30 I will pick up C. from the aeropuerto.
Tonight, I walked into the kitchen and there was ANOTHER centipede on the floor. This time about a 4.5 incher.
I stepped back, quickly.
Yelled to my nephew.
He came in, with a shoe, and proceeded to beat the crap out of it. He is my hero. (I told him that I'd campaign that he be un-grounded for his report card since he killed the bug for me. He said, "Seriously? Thanks, Aunt K.")
--
Friends, I'm <----------> this close to moving back to Ohio. These bugs are ridic.
I will see my husband in TWO days!
I will see my mom and my little sister in TWO days!
WAH-WHO!
Yay for TWO!
It's official.
C. recieved his background check from the state of Ohio declaring that he is indeed, NOT , a felon.
Whew.
(C. needed this letter to give to the Visa- granting Mexican government.)
Here's the bug that almost took us out last night.I just bought two swimsuits (online). In November. That I will wear in December.
Thumbs up to the weather here, friends. THUMBS UP.

All's well. Nice laid-back weekend.

Nothing new with me.

Who says living in MX isn't exciting?!
For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm doing what I want to do.
I'm living my life for myself and for my husband.
And, I'm happy.
It is a an invigorating, energizing and amazing feeling -- to get up, like your job and be proud that you're trying something new.
I only wish that my loved ones can experience a contentedness like this. Change is not for everyone, but everyone does have choices. I'm glad we made this one.
Yeah, there are a ton of things that are unresolved right now.
Yeah, there isn't a lot of certainty right now.
Yeah, it's a transitional period, but I ask for your understanding.
In no way am I attempting to ignore or vanish from the relationships that I hold so dear, instead... I am, we are, getting our lives together.
The logistics and complications that are involved with this transition are sometimes overwhelming and weigh heavy--however, they're temporary. Truly.
I appreciate any and all of the support that you've given to myself and C.
Thank you for your patience and unconditional love.
I'm back from Ohio.
It was a whirl-wind visit. Flew in Thursday night, left for Cinci Friday a.m., (my friend B. got married), had the rehearsal stuff on Friday, got the computer fixed, had the wedding on saturday, picked up the computer, shopped for necessities and had a quiet "with-my-husband" dinner, got back to Toledo late Sunday night, ran one million errands and got my life together on Monday, and packed and left early this a.m.
I'll post more later.
There are now time share salesperson's IN the grocery store. At Mega.
Pick up some milk, bread...oh yeah, and a time share.
Wow.
(Please re-read the title of this post.)

(Outside of the house. There are no garages here, really. See that little cover to the left of the front window? On the side of the house? That's where the washer and dryer go...outside of the house. Crazy different. I love Mexico.)Today, my sister and I will be heading out and taking a look at a possible place for C. and I to live. It's a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo. Let's cross our fingers!
One of the concerns here is that there is NOTHING on the market. We got a call this a.m. that this was available and we'll check it out at 4. Hopefully it's nice and works out. If not, hopefully something else works out.
Four more nights, and I will see my husband, my dog, my house, my bed, my stuff and my other life. (**smile**)
I love it here, but I must admit - going home is worrisome for me--only because it's when I'm actually physically there that I miss my "old" life.
I'm much better with change. Make the decision, DO it, be done. Don't look back. MOVE on. I'm not good with waffling back and forth - and until C. gets here permanently, I feel as if going back and forth is "waffling." You know? I much prefer he comes here. (But then again, it's good to get out of this little place every so often. Everyone says it's absolutely necessary to do so.)
It's such a weird feeling to know that my life is now here (though not 100% of it), yet I still have some "life" back there.
I'm ready for both of my lives to meet up. Here. In Cabo.
I'm bracing myself though, I don't want to be overly sentimental about everything I own. You know? I have a feeling this will happen. Pictures on the wall, my dining room table, my bathroom, my bathTUB, all of my favorite things...
Ugh. This is going to kill me.
Hmm...
Tonight at dinner, an older, middle-aged white woman wearing an ill-fitting halter dress (complete with the obligatory vacation lobster-colored back sunburn), drank entirely too much red wine, shimmied and sang to a mariachi trio that played ALL of the verses of the ever-popular Mexican hit, "La Bamba."
Two thumbs up to that lady.
Definitely an exciting dinner with the fam.
Mexican people, men in particular, are short. I'm not kidding. While waiting outside of the airport today when picking up my brother, I watched the natives.
I'm not kidding - I'd say the average height of a Mexican man is maybe 5' 5". I'm not kidding.
There are days I feel like a GIANT here.
(Other story: On the way to the airport there was a very large cow dead on the side of the road.)
Ok, I really like my job.
Yeah - I do. I really enjoy it.
The people I work with are great. (There's always some weirdos - but they're everywhere.)
I like it here.
The 'ole Cingular bill was cut in HALF this month. (I still don't know how it was $300, but whatev.)
When I head back to T-town a week from today, I'm switching back to flippin' Verizon. Friends, I will then call you.
...better about driving here. I drove ALL around downtown Cabo last week, and to the airport 4 times - I'm feeling good.
Very empowering. Odd, I know. But really.
It's been a LOVELY week:

YAY! My husband arrives tomorrow night!
I'm SO EXCITED!
YAY!
Hopefully HE arrives, and hurricane Paul does not.

I certainly hope that hurricane Paul doesn't negatively impact my visit with my dear husband.
It's supposed to offer some hard wind, rain, etc. to us on Tuesday evening...(of course, around the same time that my C. is coming in town.) So, I'm bracing myself for a delay.
This is ok. Why? We've waited this long. I just want him to fly safely.
(According to my sister, this is pretty late in the season for a Cabo-area hurricane. The last time one hit this late was 1950.)
I'm pretty excited, I must admit.
I must only sleep alone for 2 more nights -- C. will be here on Tuesday night.
It's not easy living without your best friend. Really. I think the distance between us sucks, however - it has succeeded and reaffirming how much I love him and want to be with him, forever.
Yup. Happy camper right now.
I don't eat well. At all.
I am a meatless eater, and at this point, essentially a vegetable-less eater.
I ate so much better in Ohio.
My weekly menu usually consists of:

I think I might be a loser.
I've been in bed since about 7:55 p.m.
Why? I'm tired! And, I talked on the phone with C., and have been playing on my computer. Now, I'm going to watch TWO episodes of LOST on iTunes and one episode of The Office.
What a GREAT night. I love having my PJs on, glasses on, laying in bed.
NICE.
Apple Cider
The smell of fallen leaves
Reading the newspaper on Sundays in MY bed
I live in the most beautiful place.
It's one of those days where I just can't believe it.
The weather has turned, and it's perfect: 85 during the day, 70's at night. Ocean breeze.
Seeing the water everyday is perfection.
I'm glad I'm here.
Got back from Mexico City today. You would not believe the way they drive. No really, you wouldn't believe it. I've never seen anything like it.
You could audibly hear me, throughout the rides, gasping. Eek.
We ate very well. Very well.
And, the "AeroMexico" actually serves MEALS. Weird. (The meal was inedible, but still..it's the thought.)
C. gets here in 8 days! YAY! Next Tuesdsay, the 24th. :-)
**Sigh**
I'm in Mexico City - totally safe and sound.
Had the most amazing dinner. Ever. In my whole life. Amazing.
Tomorrow is our meeting.
Lata.
My dear C. gets here SO soon. I'm SO pleased about this. Just NINE more days! 10 more days until our 3 year anniversary.
Yay.
OSU won.
Got a lovely and relaxing pedicure and manicure.
Went grocery shopping.
Am watching the Fockers.
Going out to dinner, in celebration of the Detroit Tigers win, with the fam.
A two-thumbs up day.
(It's about to be an even better day. We're off to dinner...)
All is well. I'm tired.
Long week.
Looking forward to watching LOST, Project Runway and The Office on my iTunes.
Goodnight.
(C. gets here in pretty much 10 days. I'm ready. I'm ready to have my other half here. Yup. I'm ready.)
I ate out tonight. Pasta. Sweet.
Now, I must find a place to live...
Shop will be opened mid-November.
I think I will be getting a tattoo. What the heck. I'm in my late twenties. I'm old enough.
Yup. I think I'm gonna do it.
Now, what to get?!
I was told not to "overthink it" by C. Hart.
Going to Mexico City on Sunday until Monday.
Mission/goal accomplished:
I got my Costco card on Saturday. I'm truly a resident of Baja California Sur.
Tonight at 12:13 a.m. (actually today), I'm ready for C. to be here.
Easy as as that.
All I want for Christmas (and Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving...) is for him to be here.
Tired.
Going to bed.
Ate a good sandwich today.
Have an early meeting tomorrow.
Bought C.'s plane ticket for October today. (He'll be here the 24th. The day before our 3-year wedding anniversary.) Yessssss!!!
Miss him terribly.
Miss Nattie, too.
Legs, abs, groin and shoulders hurt from Pilates.
That's good, though.
Goodnight.
So, I got my phone bill today. See it up there? That's not a fib. That, my friends, is the truth. For the month, my cell phone bill is $590.59. That's not pesos, either.
As it turns out, each time I tried dialing my husband and got some sort of weird, "You can't connect now..." announcement in Spanish - I was being charged... 64-66 cents per minute. Let's just say, there's a bunch of those. ALL of my phone conversations averaged about 5 minutes long - with the exception of a couple 15 minute ones, and TWO 30 minute ones.
I hate Cingular. I hate ALL American cell phone companies. Why? Because they are unable to offer an acceptable rate. I know it can be done. How do I know? Because just about 2 yrs. ago, both my brother AND my sister got an AWESOME deal through AT & T. (Which is now, unfortunately CINGULAR.)
Still, I managed to rack up the largest cell phone bill I've ever seen.
So, to remedy this there will be some changes in my phone usage:
1.) I will utilize my sister's American cell phone as much as possible.
2.) I will utilize the Vonage phone (post work hours) at work.
3.) I will accept phone calls to my Mexican cell.
4.) I will look into a Vonage phone while at my sister's house, then will transfer it (or a new one) to our new abode (whenever we find a place.)
5.) I will look into internet phones - skype.com, etc.
Verizon has an International Long Distance play for people who call from the U.S., to Mexico, for .09 cents a minute. I think that C. is going to have to get that and call me on my MX cell.
Anywho, this was a major blow today.

Mission accomplished.
I may have purchased the wrong color (verde or roja), but nonetheless - Bullet is full. $320 pesos later. (About $31 later.)
I said, "Lleno por favor." (Fill it up, please.)
Nice. This week, (given I feel better), I shall buy a membership to Costco; hence, Goal #2.

Yup, I think I have my first, full-blown cold in Cabo. (C. is just getting over the same thing in Ohio.) It's weird. It's the strangest sensation to be cold, stuffy and have a sore throat when it's beautiful outside, 90 degrees and sunny.
At home if I had a cold right now, it would be about 50 degrees at night, maybe 60 during the non-sunny day. Now that is good cold weather.
I took a couple of "SinuTabs" (made by Pfizer) - needed more. Went to Mega (grocery store) they had none. (I even asked the lady at the counter - in Spanish.) So, I bought "Tylenol Sinus" that claims that it's "maxima eficacia" (maximum strength) - WHATEVER.
I still can't breathe. AT all.
I will FIND those SinuTabs and I will take them and I will breathe again.
I think I'll have to bring stuff (medicines) from The States back with me because I know what I can and can't take. For example, Sudafed is a big no-no for me. It makes my heart flutter. (Dr. said "no" to it.) However, right now, at 9:49 p.m. on a Sunday night - I'd give just about ANYTHING for some 24-hour Dristan nasal spray.
Ok, off to bed.
Oh wait - want to hear my latest trick? I've been using toilet paper as tissues for my nose - I can just stuff the used tissues in the cylinder until it's full - then throw them all away at once. I think it's ingenious. Others, well - you might think it's gross. It's working for me, though.
When Chloe was sick a month or so ago, I made her a necklace with a roll of toilet paper on it, that way, when her nose ran, her tissues were at her fingertips. She totally wore it. I wonder if they'd look at me funny if I wore that to work tomorrow.
Ok. I'm off to bed.
I can't believe I'm here.
I cannot believe that I no longer work at Owens Community College.
I cannot believe that I'm living in CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico.
I can't believe I have a JOB in Mexico.
I cannot believe any of it.
I can't believe that I shop in a grocery store where EVERYTHING is all in Spanish.
I can't believe that I took pesos out of the ATM.
I can't believe that I am DRIVING in another country.
I feel like I am very much so living someone else's life. I almost feel like I'm watching someone else's life... Nothing seems real.
It's just all so foreign. Obvioiusly, the being in a new country - but every experience I've been having for the past two months is new. Literally, every experience. I'm discovering everything. It's disconcerting to not have a frame of reference, however - it's also invigorating to see and participate in so many new experiences.
Again - WHAT IS GOING ON?
Whose life am I living?
--
I think I might feel like myself as soon as C. gets here. I'm independent, yadda yadda -- I just feel so incomplete without him here. Or, after I get my own place it'll probably feel more permanent, more true.
Anywho - what a flipping surreal experience.
I live in Mexico.
W.O.W.
(I always hated the term, "Hump Day." Huh? What? Ew.)
Overall feelings regarding today, Wednesday, September 27th:
C. got his official copy (with gold seal) of his Ohio Real Estate License. I believe we're going to have him start his FM3 process when he comes here (to Cabo) to visit in October.
It's becoming a big more real now.
Sadly, this is a big deal to me:
1.) I went to Mega (supermarket) by myself. (This entailed adding up "pesos" in my head and then paying and tipping appropriately. (You tip the baggers here.)
2.) I used the ATM and withdrew pesos. (Not the big of deal, but still.)
3.) I drove through a Mexican "detour" down a road I've never been on without hitting the high-curbs on the right side and the orange cones on the left side. (Go me.)
Yes, each day is a triumph.
My sister left Cabo for Vegas today, when I arrived back into Cabo. She emailed me while waiting on a FOUR HOUR LAYOVER (huh?!) in Phoenix.
She said, "Welcome HOME."
Hmm...
Let's ponder that second word: "HOME."
Up until this point, my "home" has been in Ohio. But, can it be that my "home" may be becoming this part of the world? Quite possibly.
Maybe right now it's just Cabo, but just as soon as my best friends (C & Nattie) join me - it will indeed become "home."

Today was annoying.
This evening was lovely.
I really enjoy my "family time." It sounds cheesy, but it's great. I look forward to seeing the kids everyday when I come home from work. Living with my sister, niece and nephew has made me see how cool kids are; how much they really do add to daily life.
It is my pleasure to watch these little personalities develop. In all honesty, it's a gift.
FM3 will be ready on Friday. (I will be in Ohio.) So, I'll get it when I come back next week.
Read more...I find out tomorrow morning if I'll get my FM3 before my trip back to Ohio on Thursday.
Exciting. :-)
Currently, I'm residing with two dogs:
On my 3 minute drive to work this a.m. I think I saw a Jimmy Buffet look-alike crossing the street in his wetsuit and with his board.
I swear it was him.
Or, maybe I just wanted it to be him. Nonetheless, I may or may not have just seen Jimmy.
